Things to Do in North Central Phoenix: The Rest of 2026

There is a version of this article that is a list of forty things scraped off an events site, half of them in Scottsdale, none of them checked. This is not that. What follows is split into three plain sections so you know exactly what you are looking at: the things you can do any week of the year, the things with dates already nailed down, and the things that come back every year but have not announced 2026 dates yet.

That last category matters more than most guides admit. Plenty of Phoenix institutions run on a schedule that gets published six or eight weeks out. Telling you a date that has not been announced would be making something up, so where a date is not out, this guide says so and stops there.

Weekly and ongoing

Start here, because this is the part of the list that is genuinely ours.

Uptown Farmers Market

North Phoenix Baptist Church, 5757 North Central Avenue, Phoenix 85012. Saturdays, 7am to 11am, year round.

The address is the whole point. This is not a market you drive across the Valley for — it sits right in the middle of the neighborhood, on Central, a walk or a two minute drive from most of the homes in The Corridor. People show up in running clothes with a dog and a canvas bag, run into three neighbors before they get to the produce, and leave forty minutes later having accomplished very little and enjoyed all of it. That is the correct way to use it.

Seven in the morning sounds early until you have spent a July in Phoenix, at which point it reads as the only civilized hour available. Go at seven in the summer and you get shade and moving air. Go at nine in January and you get the version of this city that makes people move here.

The Wednesday market is closed for the summer and reopens in October. If you are new to North Central, know that locals treat that reopening as a real seasonal marker — more than any calendar date, the Wednesday market coming back is the signal that the long heat has broken and the outdoor half of the year has started. Patios refill the same week. So does the market parking lot.

Confirmed dates

These have published 2026 dates. Confirm with the organizer before you build a weekend around one, but as of this writing these are on the calendar.

Queen Creek Olive Mill Garlic Festival — September 19 to 27, 2026

At Queen Creek Olive Mill. It is a drive from North Central, and it is the kind of thing you go to once and then either put on the annual list or never think about again. Nine days is a long run for a festival, which at least means you are not fighting for a single Saturday slot.

Arizona State Fair — October 1 to November 1, 2026

At the Arizona State Fairgrounds and Coliseum. This is the closest big annual event to North Central, sitting just southwest of the neighborhood, and for a full month you will feel it — traffic patterns shift, the evening sky over that direction gets a glow to it, and a certain kind of night air carries sound farther than you expect.

Being that close is a real amenity. A month of fair means you can go on a random Tuesday evening after dinner instead of committing to a whole Saturday, which is a luxury people living farther out do not have.

Four Peaks Brewing Oktoberfest — October 9 to 11, 2026

At Tempe Town Lake. Early October in the Valley is the first genuinely pleasant outdoor weekend most years, and a lakeside Oktoberfest is a reasonable way to spend it. Light rail runs from Central, which is worth knowing before anyone volunteers to drive.

Phoenix Pride Festival and Parade — October 10 and 11, 2026

At the Arizona Center. Same weekend as Oktoberfest, downtown rather than Tempe, and a very different energy. If you are new to Phoenix, this is one of the larger and more visible weekends on the city's calendar, and central Phoenix is where it happens.

NASCAR O'Reilly Auto Parts Series race — October 17, 2026

The Valley's fall race weekend. Whether or not you follow racing, it moves a lot of people around the metro for a few days, so it is worth having on your radar when you are planning anything else that Saturday.

Annual, dates not yet announced

Every one of these happens most years. None of them had 2026 dates published as of August 2026. Rather than guess, here is what each one typically looks like and what to watch for.

• ZooLights at the Phoenix Zoo — typically runs from late November into January. 2026 dates have not been announced as of August 2026.
• Las Noches de las Luminarias at the Desert Botanical Garden — typically runs on select dates from late November through the end of December. 2026 dates have not been announced as of August 2026.
• Fall Arizona Restaurant Week — 2026 dates have not been announced as of August 2026.
• The Phoenix Pizza Festival — 2026 dates have not been announced as of August 2026.
• The Arizona Taco Festival — 2026 dates have not been announced as of August 2026.

One that is already behind us

The Melrose on 7th Avenue Street Fair deserves a mention even though you cannot go to it this fall. It is the neighborhood's own street fair, held on 7th Avenue just south of here, and the 2026 edition took place on February 28, 2026. That means the next one lands in spring 2027 rather than this fall. Worth putting on next year's calendar now, because it is one of the few events on this whole list you can genuinely walk or bike to from parts of the corridor.

How to actually use this list

The honest read: from now through the end of the year, the two things you can count on are the Saturday market and the State Fair being a short drive away for a solid month. Everything else is a bonus, and the December light displays will announce when they announce.

If you are house hunting and trying to figure out whether this neighborhood fits how you actually spend your time, that is the useful frame.
